Looking for child care jobs Croydon educators actually stay in? Dashing Ducks is a family-owned service in the Inner West, and we have been caring for local children for more than 30 years.
We are a small, stable team. Our educators are supported with ongoing professional development, planned programming time, meals cooked on site by our own chef, and leaders who are in the rooms rather than behind a desk.
We welcome applications from Certificate III and Diploma qualified educators, Early Childhood Teachers, trainees and casuals. A current NSW Working with Children Check is required, and qualifications should be recognised by ACECQA.
We recruit for both services. Have a look at our Croydon centre and our Castle Hill centre, then tell us which one suits you.
If you’re interested in joining our team, please fill in the form below and we’ll be in touch.
Our Croydon service cares for children from 6 weeks to school age across babies, toddlers and preschool rooms. Depending on your qualification and experience you might be based in one room, float across the service, or lead a room as a Room Leader or Early Childhood Teacher.
A typical day includes setting up indoor and outdoor learning environments, running planned and spontaneous experiences, documenting learning, working with families at drop-off and pick-up, and supporting routines such as meals, rest and nappy changes or toileting.
More than anything we look for people who are warm with children and reliable with families. Beyond that, we look for educators who plan intentionally, who communicate clearly with parents, and who are comfortable working as part of a team rather than in isolation.
We welcome applications from people at every stage, including students still completing a Certificate III or Diploma, educators returning to the sector after a break, and experienced teachers looking for a smaller, family-owned service.
Fill in the form below with your qualification, availability and a short note about the age group you enjoy most. We read every application. If your experience looks like a fit we will invite you in for a chat and a walk through the rooms, so you can see the service before deciding.
Dashing Ducks is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, and we are committed to child safe recruitment practices in line with the NSW Child Safe Standards.
Do I need experience to apply? No. We take on trainees and students studying a Certificate III, alongside experienced educators. Tell us where you are up to and we will be straight with you about what is available.
What hours are available? The service is open 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, so shifts are usually opening, middle or closing. Part-time, full-time and casual child care jobs Croydon applicants ask about are all possible depending on the roster at the time.
What if I live closer to Castle Hill? We recruit for both services and often move people between them, so mention your preferred location in the form and we will keep it in mind.
How long does it take to hear back? We usually reply within a week. If we do not have a suitable opening straight away we keep applications on file, because child care jobs Croydon vacancies often open at short notice when rosters change.
Can I visit before applying? Yes. If you would rather see the service before you send anything through, ring the centre and ask for a time. We are happy for prospective educators to walk the rooms during the day, meet the team and ask whatever they need to ask before committing to an application. Most people find that ten minutes in a room tells them more than any job ad ever could, and we would much rather you knew what you were saying yes to.
