Jamisontown

Our Jamisontown centre is only a few years old! It has been built specifically to facilitate children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. The centre does a magnificent job at doing just that, boasting a total of 96 places at full capacity.

To complement our indoor spaces, we have ample outdoor play areas rich in resources, natural play spaces and opportunities for sustainable practices. Our outdoor play environment features opportunities for children to engage in the natural world; we even grow vegetables in our gardens!

We also have sandpits, water play, gross motor play and large
construction and art areas. Making the centre one of the most enriching preschools in Penrith.
The classrooms are split up by age, with the Waratah Room preparing the children for their transition into primary school.

The Gumnut Room

0-1 Years

Our goal is to provide a warm and nurturing environment that is both home-like and stimulating. In the Gumnut room our children are provided with all of the essentials to make sure that the transition into early childcare is easy and stress-free. In our 0-1 room, we focus on:

Our educators provide individualised care to children and create a warm, caring and nurturing environment to help develop your child’s emotional security. We meet children’s physical and emotional needs through daily care routines, one-to-one interactions with each child, and small group playtimes.

In the babies room, routines and transitions such as meal times, nappy change, and sleep allow educators to engage in meaningful interactions and develop close relationships with each of the children.

Our educators work closely with families to ensure that each child’s interests, needs and development is supported. Home routines are maintained and communicated regularly with families.

The Eucalyptus Room

1-2 Years

The Eucalyptus room ensures a friendly and fun environment where children are encouraged to use their sensory skills to engage and interact with the world around them. We focus on:

Educators work closely with each of the children and their families to ensure a smooth transition from home to preschool and support children’s learning in contextual and meaningful ways.

Routines and transitions are used to build relationships with children and encourage children’s self-help skills. At this age, children begin to familiarise themselves with the environment they have come to know. That is why in the Eucalyptus room, we emphasise the importance of a program that helps to provide opportunities to challenge them whilst within a secure environment.

Experiences are planned based on the children’s interests and development. They include a range of activities such as art and craft, playdough and sensory play, construction, puzzles, music and movement, sand and water play, sharing books and small group times.

The Wattle Room

2-3 Years

The Wattle Room and its educators provid a secure environment where your child is valued, respected and encouraged to develop their interests and skills. We focus on:

Educators in the toddlers’ room use routines, transitions and playtimes to respond to the children’s interests and needs and create meaningful interactions. This helps create opportunities for educators to learn children’s communication strategies. Educators also partner with families to learn about children’s interests and development and support each child’s communication skills.

A range of experiences in the toddlers’ room supports these outcomes, including art and craft, playdough and sensory play, construction, music and movement, sand and water play, sharing books, puzzles and games. Educators support children’s understandings during these experiences, mainly focusing on the process and expression involved in each incident. As children develop, the program becomes more challenging and varied to cater to each child’s emerging needs and interests and the group as a whole.

The Banksia Room

3-4 Years

In the Banksia Room we provide a stable environment with a balance of stimulating and educational planned and spontaneous experiences allowing the child to problem solve, make decisions and express themselves. We focus on:
